Growing a garden in a sack

Published:

About this video

A vegetable garden does not always need a large plot of land. With sack gardening, plants grow from the top and sides of a sack, making use of height to fit more plants into a small area.

Families in Kenya and Uganda have used sack gardens to grow vegetables for their own meals and earn income. The approach uses little space and water, making it one option for growing food where those resources are limited. A sack becomes a growing space within a small corner.
