A bottle that brings daylight indoors

A discarded plastic bottle can have a brighter second life. In the daylight bottle design featured here, water helps spread sunlight through a roof into a dark room. It brings light during the day; it does not store energy or light the room after sunset on its own.

Liter of Light also works with communities on a different solution for night-time: solar-powered lamps using panels, batteries and LEDs, alongside training in assembly and maintenance. This episode connects simple materials with shared skills. Roof alterations, weatherproofing and electrical work need appropriate expertise before anyone adapts the idea to their own home.
