Growing mushrooms on coffee grounds

Published:

About this video

A cup of coffee does not have to be the end of the story for its grounds. Spent coffee grounds can provide a growing medium for mushrooms. Chido Govera, who learned mushroom cultivation as a child, made that possibility part of her work to share food-growing skills.

Through The Future of Hope Foundation, she connects mushroom cultivation with opportunities to grow food and earn income. Reusing a discarded material becomes part of producing something useful. Sharing the growing skills gives more people a way to take part in food production themselves.
